Plitvice Lakes National Park is a special geological and hydrogeological karst phenomenon. The Plitvice Lakes complex was declared a national park in 1949, it is a wooded mountain area with 16 smaller and larger lakes of crystal blue-green color. They get their water from numerous rivers and streams, and are interconnected by sparkling cascades and noisy waterfalls. Separated by travertine barriers, for which the period of the last ten thousand years has been decisive, is a fundamental feature of the Park. Spacious forest complexes, exceptional natural beauties of lakes and waterfalls, richness of flora and fauna, mountain air, contrasts of autumn colors, forest paths and wooden bridges and much more are part of a unique whole that UNESCO has declared a world natural heritage.

Kornati National Park makes up most of the group of Kornati islands in the Croatian part of the Adriatic in central Dalmatia, south of Zadar. It was declared a national park in 1980 and then placed under protection. The total area of the park is about 220 km² and consists of 89 islands, islets and cliffs. Of the park area, only about 1/4 is land, while the rest is marine ecosystem. It abounds in natural and cultural features. The vertical cliffs of the “crown” of the Kornati islands facing the open sea are the most popular phenomenon of this park. They are also habitats of rare species. The world of the Kornati seabed reveals some other fascinating stories. And it is good to know that the mainland part of the Park is privately owned.

With the submerged part of the estuary, it is about 72.5 km long and has 22 rivers in Croatia. The river Krka springs at the foot of the Dinara mountain, 3.5 km northeast of Knin at the foot of a 22 m high, noisy in winter and in summer waterless Topoljski waterfall, Veliki buk or Krcica waterfall.

On an area of 96 km2, along the eastern coast of the Adriatic Sea to the highest peaks of Velebit, Vaganski vrh (1757 m) and Sveti brdo (1753 m), there is an abundance of many natural features and phenomena, for which the whole area was declared a national park in 1949. . Art Center & Workshop Celinka – Posedarje

An impressive art center initiated by amateur sculptor and artist Vinko Kajmak.

GRAD ZADAR

There are many sights that can be seen in Zadar, due to its long history dating back to ancient times. In addition to many old buildings, some of the sights are:

  • Sea organ

The sea organ, designed by architect Nikola Bašić, is recognizable as a specially shaped shore in several rows of stairs that descend towards the sea. Stairs stretch for about seventy meters of shore, below which, at the level of the lowest ebb of the sea, 35 pipes of different lengths, diameters and slopes are installed perpendicular to the shore, which rise obliquely to the coastal paving and end in the channel (service corridor). There are LABIUMI (whistles) on the pipes, which play 7 chords of 5 tones. Above the canal are performed stone stairs through which sound comes out, the air suppressed by the sea.

Greetings to the Sun in Zadar, 2008

From this place there is a view of the Zadar channel, islands and the sunset, whose beauty in Zadar is especially famous. The Sun Salutation consists of three hundred multi-layered glass panels set flush with the stone paving of the waterfront in the shape of a circle 22 meters in diameter. Under the glass conductive panels there are photovoltaic solar modules through which symbolic communication with nature, ie with the Sun, is realized. Simultaneously with the sunset, the lighting elements built into the circle are switched on and, according to a specially programmed scenario, they produce an extremely impressive play of light in the rhythm of the waves and the sound of the Sea Organ.
